List of future multiplayer games - 05/05/2025

Hello folks,

Bringing back a fresh thread!

Anyone can register, I will see what interest people if any, and then organize PBEM. Note that I need to have your email.
For now, the account creation is still blocked - I will do it manually if you send an email at wargamingscribe@gmail.com

I am going to split them into two categories. Anything "Prio Low or Very Low" is going to be in my long-term backlog, so you may receive an email about it in 1 week, 1 month, 1 year or never :).

  • The multiple-player games - more than 2 players. We start them when full, and only one at a time
    • Warlords Prio: Low.
    • Conquest of Chesterwoode  Prio: Low.
  • The two-player games:

A copy of my earlier notes on the remaining multiplayer games:

1. Warlords, 1978

  • Number of players : 4
  • Why this game :  It is one of the very first strategy games, given its release date. It seems playable
  • How much do I vouch for the game : Not much, it might be terrible, but it looks like it should be short
  • Comment :
The game was covered by Retro365 here
I'll need a tech wizard to help all of us run it (it's Cassette ^^ so no AppleWin)

2. Conquest of Chesterwoode (1981)

  • Number of players : 4
  • Why this game :  It is one of the two strategy games of Adventure International
  • How much do I vouch for the game : Very little, I have not even tested it yet. I remember @Porkbelly mentioned it.

Sign me up for any of the MP games. I'm afraid, my wargaming skills are too low to be an interesting opponent in a 2P game =(

Also, I'll try to take a closer look at Warlords, I think, AppleWin should be able to run a cassette dump, at least when configured to emulate an original Apple II (not II+ or IIe)

Well, I was wrong about the AppleWin, it doesn't support datasette dumps in any way. I must have confused it with some other computer's emulator.

Fortunately, based on a couple of threads here and there, I've made a bootable floppy disk image with the game, so you need only to mount it in the AppleWin, run emulation, and the game will start itself.

The Scribe and I both tested it, and seemingly it works without errors. So, whoever interested in the game, send the Scribe or me a message to grab your copy of this ancient Apple II goodness 🙂

I'll gladly be a guinea pig for anything. Playing old games is an interesting exercise, and I am legit missing the good MP experiences I've got here.

A bit less the bad ones, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

Beacon Star Wars look a tad rough, but it's a type-in game. From the description it looks like it has some clear boardgame inspirations....

I can't help but feel like this group is one that'll be more work than most to play through. I guess if you can get them working and nobody else is interested, I'm game.

Thanks! @dayyalu and @morpheus-kitami: Fancy a game of Warlords? It looks meh, but well, 1978!

Yes, it does sound like it's time for the cannons of destruction to begin. (probably with me at the business end)
